Remember Me! The quaint, emerging spot

Remember Me’s good for unwinding at after you’re done traipsing through the various boutiques at Dada Jungi.

Shahpur Jat is Delhi’s hub for designer wear but it has also got some offbeat and upbeat restaurants and cafes as well.

To these wide varieties of cafes joins a new addition, ‘Remember Me Café’ that is a confusing mix of Italian, continental and smattering of Greek.

Remember Me perches at the other end of the village, close to Puppychino and The Potbelly.

The unfussy blue and yellow space make for the ideal setting to take a quick break after a long day of shopping.

There’s a balcony running the length of the room that is sectioned off with seating overlooking the entrance of Shahpur Jat. Most smokers enjoy releasing their frustration here while sitting on yellow wooden bar stools.

Inside, you can while away a muggy day perched on a low-backed chair by a large window.

The cutesy yellow “bar” takes centre stage and this is where you’ll see the mixologist, who also doubles as the chef, juggle bottles of Monin syrups and whip up your choice of mocktail. There’s plenty of natural light to make it a bright spot for having a positive conversation.

The music isn’t too loud and comprises a mix of current day hits, old pop and some classics.

The chef-manager and his younger waitstaff are friendly and helpful.

Now, coming on the most important part of the café-Food. Their menu lurches around the Mediterranean, steals from American diners, and even tacks sharply east for a couple of Chinese dishes.

We ordered a grilled cottage cheese pizza. The pre-packaged base didn’t do much for us. Though the cheesy layer made it soft overall but it is was going over the top and the other vegetables didn’t match up to the taste. There was a doughy look about it.

We then went for Honey Chilli Potato, which was essentially French fries doused in a spicy sauce with honey. These were perfectly crispy, but lacked the customary sesame seeds – we would have also appreciated a little more spice. The fries, however were crispy slivers of perfection.

For weather-appropriate drinks, we ordered some steaming hot cappuccino which was pretty decent. These cups are perfectly priced for students and out-of-pocket freelancers.

We weren’t insanely impressed with the food, but we were impressed that there was only one person behind the whole show, and we couldn’t help but stare as he prepared milkshakes, chopped vegetables like a pro, sprinkled seasoning and effortlessly flitted between the kitchen and the counter. For a table of two, you can order a lot under Rs 1,000.

They have a shelf fixed for some books which are pretty interesting read. If alone, you can order some snacks and read a book in the quaint atmosphere of the café.

Remember Me’s good for unwinding at after you’re done traipsing through the various boutiques at Dada Jungi. They still have a long way to go with perfecting the food but we’re trusting they’ll get there over time.

Come to Remember Me for similarly informal, convivial snacking. Whether you drive by during a pause in shopping or want to settle in to hit a deadline, you’ll be taking a load off your feet, and leaving your pockets undented.
